This dreamy engagement session at Cabrillo National Monument was to die for! When Vivienne first reached out about her husband’s military homecoming, I was so excited for her to have her husband back!
Homecomings are such an emotional moment to witness and shooting one is always rewarding. Being a military wife myself, I know first hand how tough deployments can be. Nevertheless, due to Covid-19, we weren’t able to have a typical homecoming celebration. (Curious to see what a normal homecoming looks like? Check out Cristina + Gordon’s sweet reunion here)
Instead, we celebrated by taking some beautiful pictures at the Cabrillo National Monument in Point Loma! Jake + Vivienne were supposed to get married at the park, but weren’t able to, so we obviously had to shoot here.
I usually don’t get to shoot here since they close early, but they were open until 8pm for the month of July so it worked out! Also, I do recommend reaching out with your photographer via text before arriving because service can be spotty there.
Not only were we able to shoot here, but the sunset was STUNNING. We started off near the tide pools and finished up by the lighthouse. The views were insane and so moody.
As the sun set, the two took in the view and held each other while I snapped away. So happy I was able to take these for these love birds & so happy for them to be together again after a long deployment!
Do you have questions about a military homecoming? I’d be happy to help! I’ve shot more than 15 homecomings and know them as well as you can with the military (if you know, you know lol)
I only accept a couple of them a year due to their dates being up in the air. Head over to my contact page to get in touch!
